A few weeks ago, after the away match against 1. FC Köln (2-2), Borussia Dortmund forgot to bring Mats Hummels back to Dortmund, according to reports. BILD. None of the technical staff and the players noticed the lack of the routine, after which Hummels made the return journey on his own. Upon arrival in Dortmund, the club discovered that the defender was not in the player’s bus.

Dortmund did not have a happy afternoon in Cologne. The team of trainer Edin Terzic still took the lead via Erling Braut Haaland, but saw how the home team took over the initiative. In the end, the same Haaland saved a point for Dortmund in the final minute. As if the loss of points wasn’t bad enough, the players bus left after the game without the presence of Hummels. The defender gave a few more interviews in the stadium, while his teammates started the journey home.

It is not the first time that Dortmund forgot to bring a player home. In the past, the same happened to Ilkay Gündogan, who was left behind after a cup match against Greuther Fürth. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar experienced the same at Schalke 04. The striker also gave a number of interviews when the Schalke player’s bus left for the airport. It was then captain Benedikt Höwedes who noticed that a player was missing. Huntelaar was then taken to the airport with the police.
