Feyenoord does not have access to Mark Diemers and Bart Nieuwkoop for the time being. The midfielder and defender are on the side for ‘two to three’ and ‘five to six weeks’ respectively, trainer Dick Advocaat confirms at the weekly press conference on Friday afternoon. There is also good news for Feyenoord, as Justin Bijlow will probably return to the match selection for Sunday’s game against PSV.

“Bijlow is doing well”, says Lawyer, who was unable to use Bijlow on Saturday against VVV-Venlo (6-0 victory). The keeper made his return last month after a foot injury, but struggled afterwards with his fitness. “He has been training with us all week, so we have to see what we are doing. It is expected that he will probably be in the match selection”, the trainer said.

“Only Bart and Diemers are not there. Diemers has had problems with his hamstring since this week. He is out for two or three weeks. It takes a little longer for Bart, because it hit him quite hard. There are five. or six weeks out, “Advocaat continues. Nieuwkoop was not there against VVV, because he sustained a hamstring injury during training. Feyenoord reported last week that he would be missing ‘in the coming weeks’ in any case, so there is no way to return soon.

Lawyer sees Sunday’s top match as ‘the only chance’ to continue to compete for second place in the Eredivisie. Feyenoord is currently in fifth place, eight points behind the number two from Eindhoven. “If you win, the other teams also get nervous. This will be a difficult game, but a very interesting one. PSV is a team that suits us. We have proven that in the last two years, so why not on Sunday? can catch up with three points, it all comes closer together. “
