Joël Drommel has reached a personal agreement with PSV, so report Football International Friday morning. The FC Twente goalkeeper is now awaiting an agreement between both clubs, which is expected to follow this weekend. The job is then free for Drommel to sign a multi-year contract in Eindhoven.

The transfer fee is expected to be around 3.5 million euros. Drommel has an expiring contract, although Twente has the option to extend that contract by one year. The 24-year-old goalkeeper must be the first purchase for the new season from PSV technical manager John de Jong. The Telegraph recently reported that there was also interest from Red Bull Salzburg in Drommel, but his preference is for a transfer to the Dutch top.

Should Drommel indeed go to PSV, the club will review the situation of first keeper Yvon Mvogo. The Swiss international has been rented from RB Leipzig until the summer of 2022 and Drommel has already made it clear that he does not want to leave FC Twente to be second choice elsewhere. “I am 24 years old, I want to keep playing and keep developing. That must be the first goalkeeper. The whole picture has to be perfect “, said the keeper last month.

PSV sees reserve keeper Lars Unnerstall in the opposite direction. After this season, Unterstall will make the transfer-free transfer to De Grolsch Veste and signed until the summer of 2025. Drommel has played 81 games at the highest level on behalf of FC Twente so far. He made his debut on behalf of the Tukkers in the 2015/16 season and was relegated to the Kitchen Champion Division in 2018. In 2019 Drommel obtained his doctorate with Twente. He is praised for his footballing qualities, something that PSV coach Roger Schmidt attaches great importance to.
