Jordi Cruijff tries to have his contract with Shenzhen FC terminated in order to get started at Barcelona, reports Sport Wednesday morning. The son of Johan Cruijff can, under the new club chairman Joan Laporta, play a role in the technical policy at Camp Nou. However, he is under contract for another year as a trainer of Shenzhen.
Cruijff wants to say goodbye ‘in a good way’ to Shenzhen, which will start the new season of the Super League next month. He hopes to meet with the club to reach an agreement on the termination of his contract. “Whatever happens, the permission of my current club is needed”, the Dutchman made clear after the election of Laporta.
“I still have a contract with Shenzhen,” added Cruyff in conversation with Sina Sports. “If I were to leave now, that would be a breach of contract. So it is a matter between the clubs. It is no secret that I love Barcelona very much, but a contract is a contract. If Barcelona really wants me, there will have to be negotiated. ” His earlier statements suggested that Cruijff would wait for an agreement between the clubs, but according to Sport he nevertheless chooses to take control himself.
Sunday night reported RAC1 that Cruijff is in the picture to become the new technical director of Barcelona. However, it is also conceivable that his position will formally become ‘technical secretary’ and that he would work under new football director Mateu Alemany, former president of Real Mallorca and previously general manager of Valencia. Sport makes no statement about the exact position that Cruijff will hold and maintains that he will be responsible for technical policy together with Alemany.
