Riechedly Bazoer is not yet affiliated with the selection of Vitesse, writes the Gelderlander. According to the regional newspaper, the club is ‘not yet conclusive’ about the return of the defender, who was kicked out of the selection on Sunday after he misbehaved in Friday’s training. “We will first talk to him”, explains technical director Johannes Spors. “When that is, I can’t say.”

During the conversation, Bazoer will sit down with Spors and trainer Thomas Letsch. Reportedly, the insult against Letsch is especially important, because it can affect the authority of the coach in the group of players. “We regret the whole turn of events,” Spors agrees. “This is the situation: Riechedly missed the game against AZ. We are now looking further.” According to the director, ‘nothing’ is correct that the players’ council, consisting of Remko Pasveer, Danilho Doekhi, Jacob Rasmussen, Matus Bero and Oussama Tannane, would have pushed for a suspension for Bazoer. “The coach makes the decisions. And that decision has been communicated to the players’ council.”

Bazoer’s dissatisfaction with the situation is growing, he said the Gelderlander. The playmaker is reportedly ‘devastated’ by the situation and hopes to return soon. Bazoer would have kicked on Friday’s training with teammate Daan Huisman and then went into a verbal battle with Letsch and captain Remko Pasveer. Letsch husky Bazoer then for the duel with AZ. At Vitesse, the playmaker has repeatedly come into conflict with former trainer Leonid Slutsky in the past and he came to blows with Jay-Roy Grot during training. However, there is a big difference with last year’s incident: this time Bazoer immediately repented after his emotional outburst.

He apologized after training and therefore Letsch considered letting him play against AZ and hand out a penalty in a different way. Part of the group of players was according to The Telegraph however, of the opinion that Bazoer was too over the line against Letsch and that a suspension should follow. Intensive talks were held on Saturday afternoon and the air seemed to have cleared for the most part. However, the question remains when Bazoer can return to the selection; An important away match against FC Utrecht awaits on Sunday.
