Christian Eriksen may return to the Premier League in January. The Danish midfielder has only a supporting role at Internazionale under trainer Antonio Conte, which means that he has been increasingly linked to a departure from Milan in recent weeks. According to Corriere dello Sport Arsenal has serious interest in the ex-Ajax player. The Gunners reportedly think of a trade deal, in which Granit Xhaka would have to go the other way

Eriksen made the switch from Tottenham Hotspur to Internazionale in January of this year for approximately 27 million euros. The 28-year-old midfielder failed to secure a permanent base under Conte. Last season, he played seventeen times in Serie A, although he started only eight times from the base. This season he got no further than 212 minutes of play in five league games. Eriksen is not satisfied with his current situation, according to the Italian sports newspaper, so a departure in January is a realistic option.

Arsenal would like to offer him the opportunity to return to London in January, the city where he ended up in 2013 after making the switch from Ajax to Tottenham. The current number eleven of the Premier League, also archrival of the Spurs, Inter now proposes a trade deal. Xhaka is allowed to leave the Emirates Stadium and is offered at the Italian top club, it sounds. Conte is looking for a controller just before the defense and N’Golo Kanté would still be at the top of his list. According to the Italian newspaper, it is therefore questionable whether the trainer agrees to attracting Xhaka, who has a different playing style than the French international.

Corriere dello Sport writes that Conte, on the other hand, will benefit more from Xhaka than from Eriksen. Bringing in Xhaka, Arturo Vidal could play a bit more forward than is currently the case. According to rumors in the English media, Manchester United would also be interested in Eriksen, whose contract at the Giuseppe Meazza will run until the summer of 2024.
