Owen Wijndal made quite an impression as a left back in the last international matches of the Dutch national team. In that context Kenneth Perez watches Monday evening in the television program Football talk to other options on the left side of the Orange defense. The analyst always looked with pleasure at Jetro Willems, who has not been in the picture for some time with the various Dutch national coaches.

“I still have hope for Jetro Willems, is that crazy?” Perez wonders aloud on Monday evening. FOX Sports. “But I think that is such a funny player, he was really unparalleled with his crosses on Luuk de Jong (at PSV, ed.). Well, if you still have to line up Luuk de Jong at Orange … Even if it was sometimes defensively with Willems that you thought of: hmmm. That is of course also quite important. ”

Willems, who suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury last year as a mercenary from Newcastle United, is on 22 international matches on behalf of the Dutch national team. His last appearance in the Dutch Team dates from October 2016, when he played for six minutes in the home game against France (0-1 defeat). Then national coach Bert van Marwijk took Willems to the European Championship in 2012, when the fullback of Eintracht Frankfurt was only eighteen years old.

Perez also takes a closer look at the right back position. Rick Karsdorp, who is fit again, may be an option for De Boer in the near future. “That is someone to follow, especially if he has a permanent place at AS Roma.” Perez has his reservations about Karsdorp in view of the injury sensitivity. “We saw him at Feyenoord, then he might not be fit in his second period there. He was fit in his first period, although that was a while ago”, the analyst concludes.
