Barcelona does not want to cooperate in a winter departure of Riqui Puig to Ligue 1, so assures us Mundo Deportivo Monday. According to the newspaper, Paris Saint-Germain sees the arrival of the talented midfielder. PSG is looking for a rental deal, but manager Ronald Koeman does not want to make a competitor in the Champions League stronger, it sounds.

Puig does not have to count on much playing time under Koeman. The 21-year-old playmaker participated for four minutes in the away game against Getafe on Saturday, October 17 (1-0 defeat), but did not play in the competition. In the summer, the youth exponent of Koeman was already told that there was little perspective this season. In September wrote Mundo Deportivo that Barcelona hoped to be able to rent Puig to Ajax, but he himself preferred a longer stay at the Camp Nou.

Puig, who has competition from players such as Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Miralem Pjanic and Sergi Roberto, has an expiring contract with Barcelona. If he does not sign up soon, he will be free to negotiate with interested clubs from January. The three-time international of Spain’s Under-21 has been seen as a great talent at Barcelona for years, but could therefore leave on a transfer-free basis if Koeman no longer offers him more playing time.

However, the coach does not like a temporary departure to PSG. It is unclear how Koeman sees a loan to another club, which is unlikely to compete with Barcelona for the Champions League overall. So reported Record last month that FC Porto was also interested in the arrival of Puig. Last season, the youngster came into action eleven times in LaLiga.
