In 2020 football players are more active than ever on social media. Top players such as Memphis Depay, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic give a glimpse into their (private) life almost every day via Instagram, Twitter or other internet channels. Voetbalzone lists the craziest, most beautiful and most striking posts on social media in the section VZ Social.

Wesley Sneijder put an end to his career as a football player last year and the former midfielder has since flirted with a return to the field at FC Utrecht. However, it did not come of a return and Sneijder now seems to have other plans for the future.

The 134-time international of the Dutch national team posted a cryptic tweet on Thursday evening that is perceived in Turkey as a possible hint for the future. Sneijder placed an emoticon of an arrow with the word soon, with an image of the Turkish flag. The responses speculate that Sneijder could return to his former employer Galatasaray in whatever capacity.

That the 36-year-old former football player is still extremely popular in Istanbul is evident from the reactions that his tweet has generated. The message has already been liked more than twenty thousand times in half an hour, while there are also more than a thousand comments and two thousand retweets. Whether Sneijder is indeed planning to work in Turkey is still the question. His name has also been associated with a position at the Dutch national team in recent days. The former midfielder could play a possible role in the staff of the new national coach Frank de Boer.
