Manchester United cannot exactly look back on a very successful transfer period. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer only welcomed Donny van de Beek from Ajax in the past period. For former left back Patrice Evra reason to set off a tirade of almost twenty minutes on Instagram about the in his eyes failing purchasing policy of the Red Devils.

“I get a call from a top executive of a top club to ask Matt Judge (Manchester United transfer negotiator, ed.) Please answer his phone,” Evra explains on his Instagram page. “People need to know that we as a club let lawyers talk to possible acquisitions. They just look at the numbers, they are people who have no affinity with the football world. For a player who is worth 20 million euros, 100 million euros must ultimately be deposited. But even such players no longer come to Manchester United for that money.

Evra fears Manchester United’s reputation is at stake. “People like Bobby Charlton and George Best have shaped the history of this club,” the Frenchman continues. “We have to respect the people who won the Champions League in 1999 and 2008. Now some people want to destroy this legacy, and for what reason? Manchester United is better than that.” Incidentally, Evra refuses to place all blame on vice-chairman Ed Woodward, responsible for the purchase and sale policy.

“If I had a problem with Ed Woodward, I certainly wouldn’t make it public on social media. I would text and call him and tell him straight to his face what I think about certain things. But I think the only problem is that Ed has faith in the wrong people. He even has faith in people from outside the club. Someone like director Richard Arnold is doing incredible sponsorship deals, bringing in so much money. No new players are brought in because we let the wrong people talk to them. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gets in touch with players and talks to them like Sir Alex Ferguson always did. ”

“Manchester United employs people who are harmful to the club, so it is imperative that we tell the truth to the supporters,” said Evra, who made a striking disclosure. “Some people don’t dare to complain out loud because they are afraid that they will not get a job in the future. But I don’t care, I don’t necessarily need Manchester United. But I do love this club very much.”
