Paris Saint-Germain has for the first time this season booked a big victory. After two defeats and a win in extremis in the first three days of the Ligue 1, Thomas Tuchel’s team was 0-3 too strong for OGC Nice on Sunday afternoon, where Kasper Dolberg was missing because of the coronavirus. Kylian Mbappé just made his comeback and signed from eleven meters for the opening goal. Ángel Di Maria was involved in the other two hits by the Parisians with a goal and an assistant. Mitchell Bakker appeared at the starting signal

Four days after the 1-0 win at FC Metz, which in injury time had a Julian Draxler countergoal around the ears, PSG had no problem for the first time this season. However, a penalty kick was needed to unbalance the game seven minutes before the break. After a clear foul by Khéphren Thuram on Mbappé in the penalty area, the striker went behind the ball himself and sent Walter Benitez into the wrong corner from eleven metres: 0-1.

In the minutes to half time the game went up and down, with a good save from Keylor Navas on Rony Lopes and a change of direction from Ander Herrera on the post. In the extra time the 0-2 appeared on the scoreboard. Mbappé steamed up from the left towards the penalty area, had no eye for four defenders and shot at goal. Benitez reversed his effort, but the rebound was a prey for Di Maria.

Benitez and Navas had the opportunity to show their qualities in the second half. Especially the rescue of Navas on a bet by Youcef Atal in the upper corner was allowed, while Benitez prevented Mauro Icardi from scoring. A bet by the Argentine a little later on the bar was a harbinger of the 0-3 in the 66th minute. After a lovely free kick from Di Maria, Marquinhos touched the ball just enough to score. Fifteen minutes before time Mbappé seemed to have scored another goal, but the referee and the VAR found Julian Draxler offside.

Mbappé and Di Maria were pulled aside not much later and replaced by Bandiougou Fadiga and Pablo Sarabia. Bakker made a good impression on the commentators of the match in the Allianz Riviera, although he went a bit too recklessly into a duel with Dan Ndoye and got a fair yellow card. Navas was also attentive in the final stages to attempts by Evann Guessand and Amine Gouiri and so Nice got stuck on nineteen home games in a row in the Ligue 1 with at least one goal. PSG will play in a week from now at Stade Reims.
