Rick Karsdorp has had a particularly unfortunate comeback at AS Roma. The Dutch righthander started Saturday-evening during the season overture in Serie A against Hellas Verona in the base, but didn’t make it to the end of the game.

Karsdorp started a sprint match with Federico Dimarco after seventy minutes of football and suffered a muscle injury. The former Feyenoord player immediately made the gesture to switch and eventually cleared the field for Davide Santon. At that point both teams had not yet scored.

It was Karsdorp’s first Series A match since 5 May 2019 and his first base place in the Italian league since 6 April 2019 (532 days ago). The 25-year-old wingman has been plagued by frequent injury over the years and now seems to be able to get up again for a period in the rag basket.
