Sam Lammers has grabbed his dream transfer, so it reports Eindhovens Dagblad. The regional newspaper reports an agreement between PSV and Atalanta on a sum of ten million euros, including bonuses. That was the amount the club was betting on; PSV had previously rejected an offer of around eight million euros, including bonuses. After the departure of Lammers, PSV points the arrows at Eran Zahavi as a replacement.

Sunday Lammers played another fifty minutes against FC Groningen (1-3 victory), but then it was already clear that his future could lie in Italy. However, the difference between supply and demand still had to be rectified. PSV did not in principle intend to sell Lammers, but to the club’s disappointment the striker did not want to extend his expiring contract. Nevertheless, PSV stuck to an amount of ten million euros in the negotiations with Atalanta. The transfer fee can be up to that amount, but it is not clear which part is a fixed sum.

For PSV, Lammers’ departure is bittersweet. The striker makes a nice transfer to the number three of the last Serie A season, but at first it looked like he would be signing in the Philips Stadium. Although the club thought they had agreed on a new contract, a signature was not forthcoming. In the end, Lammers set his sights on a departure. The 23-year old striker comes from the youth training of PSV and played twenty league games for the club, in which he scored four times. In the season 2018/19, he was hired out to sc Heerenveen, which receives ten percent of the transfer fee.

PSV sees a suitable candidate in Zahavi to succeed Lammers. The 33-year-old striker of the Chinese Guangzhou R&F can, according to the Israeli branch of Sport1 sign a contract for no less than 2.5 million euros per year excluding bonuses in Eindhoven. This would make him the best paid players of PSV. He would lose out financially, because in China, the Israeli is reportedly earning ten million euros on an annual basis. Zahavi will remain with Guanghzou until December, but will in principle be allowed to leave the club where Giovanni van Bronckhorst is trainer.
