Barcelona also turned the second practice match led by Ronald Koeman into a victory. Four days after the 3-1 victory over Gimnàstic, Girona was beaten with the same numbers. Philippe Coutinho opened the score in the Estadi Johan Cruyff, after which Lionel Messi scored twice for Barcelona.

Koeman gave a basic spot to Frenkie de Jong, who was central in the midfield next to Sergio Busquets. De Jong had an unfortunate moment in the second half: from the sideline he played the ball in between Busquets and Ronald Araújo on his own half, after which Girona took over and Samuel Sáiz scored. It happened in minute 46, when Barcelona took the lead 2-0.

The score was opened by Coutinho, after a smooth attack from Barcelona. Messi was served outside the penalty area, kept three defenders busy and found Francisco Trincão, who enabled Coutinho to open the score. The 2-0 came from a magnificently placed shot from Messi: the Argentine turned away from his opponent along the penalty area and curled the leather against the inside of the post. After the 2-1 Messi determined the final position with a shot that changed direction: 3-1.
