De Graafschap achieved its second victory in as many matches in the Kitchen champion division on Saturday. Coach Mike Snoei’s team had few problems on Saturday with Roda JC Kerkrade, who had to swallow the first defeat of the season after two victories: 4-0. Two great hits by Elmo Lieftink in the first half form the basis for the victory of the team of Doetinchem.

The first attempt of the match was for Thijmen Goppel, after De Graafschap lost the ball. However, the shot in the fourth minute ended up right in the hands of Rody de Boer. Ten minutes later, Youri Roulaux responded well to a bet from Lieftink, but that was only a harbinger of ‘the great Elmo-Show’. In the nineteenth minute Lieftink takes a devastating lash and the ball ends up at the top right: 1-0. Roulaux had no chance of winning the amazing bet.

Lieftink also scored De Graafschap’s second goal six minutes later. He takes the ball in one go on the shoe and aims the ball hard and low in the left corner: 2-0. Apart from a sparse attack, Jurgen Streppel’s team had nothing to say about De Vijverberg. Roda, where one player tested positive for the corona virus on Friday, could not play football under pressure and started halftime with a double deficit.

De Graafschap eventually threw out the match shortly after the break, although Roulaux had a large share in it. After a short tussle with the defender, Daryl van Mieghem finally tucked the ball home. After an hour of play, the 4-0 appeared on the scoreboard. A shot by Jordy Tutuarima could still be blocked by Roulaux, but the rebound was for Ralf Seuntjens. Erik Falkenburg will make his debut as a replacement for Roda, who will play FC Dordrecht at home next Friday. De Graafschap will play an away game against Young AZ in nine days.
