HARRY Maguire, captain of Manchester United, pleaded not guilty after appearing in a Greek court on a charge of assault.

The English defender (27) was arrested in Mykonos on Thursday after an alleged fight with two other Britons who are 28 and 29 years old respectively.

According to the police, there was a confrontation and an exchange of words between Maguire and officers.

The three men appeared in front of a prosecutor on the nearby island of Syros on Saturday.

Maguire was in court for about an hour where he testified against a prosecutor. Maguire has denied all charges. The trial has been adjourned until tomorrow.

However, the three accused are not obliged to attend the trial and are free to return home. Maguire left the court in an unmarked vehicle and refused to comment or make any statement.

Bribery
When Martha Kelner, Sky News’ sports correspondent, asked if Maguire was a free man, his lawyer said, “Right now, yes.”

The prosecutor is considering three charges: aggravated assault, verbal assault and attempted bribery of an officer.

It is unclear which of these complaints specifically relates to Maguire.

The culprit can face up to three years in prison for attempting to bribe an officer
