THE Buccaneers’ struggles in the current Premier Soccer League continue.

Cape Town City settled with the team from Soweto 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld yesterday.

Despite a cautious start by both teams, City had to work even harder when they lost Mpho Makola in the 32nd minute.

That was because Makola was shown two yellow cards.

Although they were only 10 players, they kept fighting and it was not long before City’s Kermit Erasmus gave his team the lead against the Buccaneers just before the break.

Although both teams tried hard, neither of them could score another goal.

Due to the red card, City had to adjust his plans and he was happy that he defended his lead.

With this result, Pirates could not take back the third place in the PSL from Supersport United.

However, City have solidified their place on the standings and are now 7th with 36 points and 3 games left.

The Citizens now look more confident of their PSL status and can also put their hands in a place in the top eight with a win in their next game on Saturday against the Golden Arrows.
