WITH Veli Mothwa back in goal for the Chilli Boys, their chances of survival are again very good. Mothwa, who was named captain earlier this season, is without a doubt Chippa’s outstanding player of the season. This after he had not played a game in the Premier League (PSL) for almost three years. After getting his chance, he went on a white-hot run of eight games without conceding a goal. However, he was injured for Chippa’s first game against Cape Town City after returning from local football. The Chilli Boys did not do well and got stuck with 0-1, but with Mothwa in goal, their second game went better. The experienced goalkeeper kept Polokwane City out to ensure his team earned its first point after the lockdown. He says the team’s players know what is expected of them – and that they should do better in their remaining four games. “Things are getting tight now and we need a victory if we do not want to fall into the relegation zone,” warns Mothwa. Equal Although Chippa has earned just one point so far, he is still four points away from the relegation zone. This after Baroka FC, which is just below Chippa in 13th place, also drew in its previous game against Orlando Pirates. The other relegation candidates AmaZulu (14th), Polokwane City (15th) and Black Leopards (16th) all failed to win either. Chippa is in action against Baroka FC on Saturday. “It will be very important and if we can achieve a good result, we may be closer to safety.”
