RED BULL Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann reckons his team is ready to compete with the cream of European teams.

Nagelsmann’s remarks follow after Leipzig shocked Atletico Madrid with a 2-1 victory on Friday in Lisbon (Portugal) to advance to the Champions League semi-finals.

The cremation package of Germany’s Bundesliga now faces a star – studded Paris Saint Germain from France.

The 33-year-old German is also the youngest manager to advance a team to a semi-final.

According to Nagelsmann, he can not wait to cross swords with his compatriot and counterpart from PSG, Thomas Tuchel.

“Matches against Thomas are always very interesting,” explains Nagelsmann.

“It’s because he has a very good idea of how to play football. I hope I can come up with a good idea too.

“I expect my players to perform as they did against Atletico.”

The 46-year-old Tuchel coached Nagelsmann 13 years ago when they were together on Augsburg’s books.

However, nagging injuries hampered Nagelsmann’s career. As a result, he became a scout at Augsburg for Tuchel.
