Tottenham Hotspur manager José Mourinho is targeting five new players after announcing his first acquisition of the summer.

Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was sold to Spurs for £ 15 million.

The big challenge for Mourinho is that he also has to sell seven of his current players to make it a possibility.

He has been a big fan of this player from Denmark for some time.

That’s why Spurs rewarded him with a five-year long-term contract.

Højbjerg’s deal includes that Spurs had to agree to sell its academy product Kyle Walker-Peters to the Saints for an amount of £ 12 million.

On top of that, Spurs fans in the transfer window can expect a lot more at White Hart Lane.

Mourinho will now try to make his own mark and identity on the team.

The experienced and controversial Portuguese football boss also aims to get a quality backup for his goalkeeper and captain, Hugo Lloris, rather than the current no. 2-choice, Paulo Gazzaniga.

Second, Mourinho is looking for alternatives to two of his stalwarts, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min – preferably a player who is more versatile and can play in any position on offence.

The former boss of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Inter Milan has already put together a solid defence, but it is expected that he will hunt for a new right back and central defender.

Mourinho also aims to strengthen its midfield so that they can compete for success on all fronts, locally and in Europe.

For that to happen, Spurs will have to sell some of its excess players.
