The Ligue 1 can be followed on Dutch television next season. Ziggo Sports announces Monday morning that it has acquired broadcasting rights for the competition of France. It is a major blow for the channel, after the loss of the Premier League and Formula 1 broadcasting rights to Viaplay as of 2022.

In recent years, matches from the Ligue 1 could not be followed live on Dutch TV. Ziggo Sport previously extended the contract with the Italian Serie A. Next season, the competitions and national cup tournaments of France, Italy and Spain can be followed on the channel, which also has the rights to the Champions League and the qualifying international matches for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The arrival of various Dutch players has made Ligue 1 more interesting for a Dutch TV audience this summer. For example, Paris Saint-Germain strengthened itself with Georginio Wijnaldum, Calvin Stengs and Justin Kluivert came to OGC Nice and Peter Bosz is the new trainer of Olympique Lyon. Kaj Sierhuis (Stade Reims) and Sven Botman (Lille OSC) have been playing in the competition for some time. On the other hand, the departure of Memphis Depay from Olympique Lyon to Barcelona.
