RB Leipzig achieved a convincing victory in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 3-0 within half an hour thanks to standout Xavi Simons, Loïs Openda and David Raum. At the same time, Borussia fought to a late victory against SC Freiburg: 2-4. Donyell Malen played an important role in the comeback with a goal.
RB Leipzig – FC Augsburg 3-0
Simons could count on a starting place again at Leipzig. The Dutchman immediately made his mark, as he managed to open the score at home within seven minutes of play. It was a textbook attack: Openda swerved to the side and crossed to Simons, who was able to finish with his head from close range: 1-0. After more than ten minutes the roles were reversed. Simons found Openda with a tight play-in pass, after which the striker was able to easily slide in: 2-0.

The Dane crossed sharply to David Raum, who tapped the ball in at the far post. Those Roten Bullen slowed down in the remainder of the match, saving Augsburg a bigger defeat.
SC Freiburg – Borussia Dortmund 2-4
BVB I thought I was on the safe side after more than ten minutes of play after Mats Hummels convincingly headed Julian Brandt’s corner against the ropes. However, Freiburg then managed to recover. Lucas Höler leveled the score just before half-time by heading Vincenzo Grifo’s cross with the back of his head behind Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Deep into stoppage time of the first act, the 2-1 score was also a fact and again a goal was scored with the header. This time Grifo found teammate Nicolas Höfler from a free kick.

The visitors had to give chase and got back into the match thanks to Malen. The Dutch international had the choice of the corner after a successful combination through the axis of the field with Niclas Füllkrug: 2-2. Freiburg had to continue with ten men in the final phase after a red card for Hofler, who committed a foul on Marcel Sabitzer. Dortmund then managed to take the full spoils. Hummels was responsible for the 2-3 with a fumble goal, after which substitute Reus set the final score at 2-4 with a well-known shot.
