Georginio Wijnaldum can return to the training field of AS Roma in four to six weeks, reports RomaPress. The Romans rent him for one season from Paris Saint-Germain, where the midfielder was in a hopeless position. Before the current season had even started, however, he suffered a broken tibia in training.

At the end of August things went wrong for the former player of Feyenoord, PSV and Liverpool. During the last part of a training session, he broke his tibia and the injury sidelined him for almost five months. As a result, he also had to miss the World Cup in Qatar. Il Tempo reports that his recovery is going well, but that it is unlikely that Roma will be able to field him before the end of January.

According to the Italian newspaper Gini however, will start regular group training at the end of this month. After that, he can slowly but surely join the selection to prepare for the start of the second half of the season. So far the counter is counting i Giallorossi in twelve minutes. Wijnaldum came on in the first round of Serie A against Salernitana (0-1 win). The next game of the Romans is a home game against Bologna.

The team of coach Jose Mourinho currently occupies seventh place in Serie A with 27 points from fifteen games. In the group stage of the Europa League, the team finished second. The Italians will meet RB Salzburg in the play-off round at the beginning of February. At the end of this season, the Conference League winner has the chance to take over Wijnaldum permanently from Paris Saint-Germain. Whether the midfielder will still play together with Rick Karsdorp remains to be seen. The right back is at odds with Mourinho and has previously failed to show up for training.
