The way in which Steven Berghuis celebrated the Amsterdam goals last Sunday during the Classic between Ajax and Feyenoord (2-3) cannot count on the approval of Willem van Hanegem. He says so in the Willem & Wessel Podcast from the General Journal. The Feyenoord club icon watched with increasing amazement at Berghuis’s fanatical screams.

The two Ajax goals, in which Berghuis was involved as the principal and as the man of the ‘front assist’, caused the Apeldoorner to be very happy. Van Hanegem did not understand. “I had no idea he was so fanatical,” reports The Curve cynical during the podcast of it AD. “I see someone come into the picture, but what was that face? He also had stiff legs, that was also so crazy. You can be happy, but that way? Yes, bye. Don’t walk anymore pity that you come back to television with a story.”

The fact that the analysts and football connoisseurs were full of praise for the way in which Berghuis introduced Dusan Tadic’s 2-1 could not count on Van Hanegem’s approval either. The long ball over Feyenoord’s defense was, according to the former midfielder, a ‘normal wide pass’. “That was very sad. You get a ball wide and you put it over it. There was almost forty meters of space, that’s just a ball that you can almost blindly put over it.”

After the victory in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Feyenoord can hardly miss the title. The lead over Ajax is six points, while the team from Rotterdam also has a much simpler program. AZ and PSV are eight points behind and also meet more tough opponents in the remainder of the competition than Feyenoord does. After the upcoming international match, Feyenoord will play an away match at Sparta Rotterdam and a week later RKC Waalwijk will visit De Kuip. Those are the numbers six and nine of the Eredivisie.
