Great to see how van de Ven is developing at VFL Wolfsburg. Made a huge step by going from the KKD to the Bundesliga, while I think he could also go from FC Volendam to oaaz and Feyenoord at the time. Last season he didn’t play that much due to injuries, but it was probably also a kind of year to adjust for him and by the end of last season he already got quite a few minutes.

This season he has always played in the base and recently read that he has not missed a single match this season in all competitions in which Wolfsburg is currently active (the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal) and that he has also completed the 90 minutes in all matches. Have seen him play many times this season and every time he has been very good and very solid.

He will certainly take another step up in the future. I do think it is better if he stays with Wolfsburg for another 1 or 2 seasons after this season. After all, he is only 21 years old (turns 22 next month) and can then continue to play weekly at Wolfsburg and continue to develop, while Wolfsburg is also just a team of a good level and he can probably also earn a good salary there.

If he leaves in the future, he must go to a footballing team and not to a team like Juventus or Inter Miilan. No offense intended, but van de Ven is good at football and very strong defensively, but at Juventus or Inter Milan he will come to a standstill because they defend in a different way and defenders do not play football and I know that defending is the most important task for a defender, but van de Ven does that very well.

A team is Manchester City I think will be ideal. But at the moment I rate Dias and Aké higher, while they also have Laporte and Stones (van de Ven estimates quite equivalent) and Akanji.
