Paris Saint-Germain recovered from the 2-1 defeat against AC Milan in the group stage of the Champions League on Saturday. Thanks to a hat trick from the unleashed Kylian Mbappé, Stade de Reims was easily defeated 0-3. The winning PSG takes back the lead in Ligue 1 from OGC Nice thanks to the big away victory.

PSG got off to a dream start at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II. Ousmane Dembélé swung the ball in front of the goal from the right in the second minute, after which Mbappé scored from the left in the sixteen and with the right to score the 0-1 in the bottom right corner. The visitors from Paris subsequently remained the dominant team in Reims, but the dominance did not result in any more goals before halftime.

Reims actually thought they would level the score in the first half. Former Ajax player Mohamed Daramy served Junya Ito, who easily found the net. However, Daramy was offside at the time of the assist, which canceled out the home team’s goal.

After almost an hour of play, the score was finally 0-2 for PSG. Dembélé put away Carlos Soler and the right back in turn found Mbappé, who cleverly ran away from his guard and easily tapped in at the far post. The goal scorer, who has been important for PSG in Ligue 1 all season, was noticeably joyful.

Trainer Luis Enrique allowed Dembélé and Soler, two standouts on the PSG side, to rest in the final phase. Mbappé simply remained standing, and that was a good thing for the leader. Substitute Bradley Barcola led from the back line and it was Mbappé who was able to complete his hat-trick from close range. Great joy again for the hat-trick hero and his teammates.

Despite the big home defeat, Reims did not make a bad impression at all. Particularly after the break, the necessary chances were created and PSG could be grateful to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma that no goals were conceded in northeastern France.

At PSG, an important role in midfield was once again played by the only seventeen-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery, the youngest Frenchman since 1914 to be called up to the France national team. The new captain will resume the competition on November 24 with a home match against AS Monaco.
