Tottenham Hotspur seized the important fourth place in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. The team of manager Antonio Conte was 1-0 too strong for Burnley in its own Tottenham Hotspur Stadium due to a penalty from Harry Kane. The Spurs now have two points more than arch-rival Arsenal (68 at 66), but the Gunners will play against Newcastle United on Monday. The fourth place entitles you to participate in the Champions League at the end of the ride.
No Dutch input in the game between Tottenham and Bunley, as both Steven Bergwijn and Wout Weghorst started on the bench. The home team will have looked forward to the game with the relegation candidate – Burnley as number seventeen has just as many points as number eighteen Leeds United – with confidence, as Arsenal won 3-0 in the middle of the week. The best chances in the initial phase were for Conte’s team. Heung Min Son (shot) and Kane (header) fired on the enemy goal after fifteen minutes, but neither of them saw their effort promoted into a goal.
Halfway through the first half, Burnley also showed up and seemed to take the lead via Maxwel Cornet. The attacker controlled the enemy box well and shot the ball into the left corner, but had to watch Hugo Lloris make a great save. When the first company appeared to end in a goalless draw, Tottenham struck in stoppage time. After an indirect corner from Son, a shot by Davinson Sánchez unfortunately hit the arm of Ashley Barnes. Referee Kevin Friend was called to the screen by the VAR and placed the ball at eleven meters, after which Kane scored flawlessly: 1-0. It marked his sixteenth goal of the season for the striker.

Even after the break it was Tottenham that struck the clock. Kane’s shot went just over a header from Rodrigo Bentancur was an easy prey for Nick Pope. The Burnley goalie also had an excellent save on a bet by Son, who looked for the short corner after a nice attack. On the other side, Barnes hit the post with a hard shot from the edge of the box. Mike Jackson then brought Weghorst inside the lines for the last fifteen minutes, but saw his team no longer create a chance. Tottenham will close the season next week with the away game against the already relegated Norwich City, while Arsenal still play against Newcastle (Monday) and Everton (Sunday)
