PSV will be supported by a sold-out away section on February 16 during the away match against Sevilla. The last tickets for the Europa League game went on sale on Friday and, according to Rik Elfrink, they were sold ‘within ten seconds’. A total of 2,200 PSV fans will travel to Andalusia. A week later, the team of trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij plays in its own Philips Stadium.

PSV managed to qualify as number two in the group for the intermediate round of the Europa League. Van Nistelrooij’s team finished behind Arsenal and were linked to Sevilla in the draw. The Eindhoven residents will visit southern Spain on February 16 and act as hosts in their own home a week later. The winner qualifies for the eighth finals. Sevilla ended up in the intermediate round by finishing third in its Champions League group.

The fact that the European campaign is alive with PSV fans was evident from the interest in the duel with Sevilla. After the so-called priority sale started last Tuesday, the club sold the last tickets via the regular sale on Friday morning. Within seconds the last tickets were sold out, Elfrink knew about it Eindhovens Dagblad to report. All 2,200 available cards are now gone. PSV fans must travel to Seville on their own transport.

For a number of PSV players, the focus will not be on the club for the time being, as they are active with their country at the World Cup. For example, Cody Gakpo, Luuk de Jong and Xavi Simons play on behalf of the the Dutch and Érick Gutiérrez is active with Mexico in the global final tournament. In the meantime, preparations for the second half of the season are slowly starting in Eindhoven. PSV will play an exhibition match against AC Milan on December 30 and will resume the Eredivisie on January 7 with a home game against Sparta Rotterdam.
