PSV knows which hurdles it has to survive to be allowed to play in the group stage of the Champions League this autumn. The people of Eindhoven, who first have to deal with AS Monaco, were linked to the winner of the diptych between Rangers and Union Saint Gilloise during the draw at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon.

If PSV survives the third qualifying round of the Champions League, it will therefore meet Rangers or Union Saint Gilloise in the play-offs. Those teams will also face each other in the third preliminary round. The Eindhoven club starts the third preliminary round on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. with an away match in Monaco and hopes to finish the job next week in its own Philips Stadium. That game will start on Tuesday at 8:30 PM.

The play-offs for the billion-dollar ball will then be played on August 16/17 and August 23/24, after which the draw for the group stage will be on Friday August 25. Ajax is then in the pipeline and PSV naturally also hopes to be part of the largest club tournament in Europe. Should the formation of trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij lose in the third preliminary round or the play-offs, it will enter the group stage of the Europa League. Last year PSV played against Monaco.
