Bayer Leverkusen has mercilessly lashed out in the Bundesliga on Sunday. Xabi Alonso’s team sent season revelation Union Berlin back to the Berlin capital with a 5-0 defeat. Mitchel Bakker and Jeremie Frimpong – who are both part of the World Cup pre-selection of the the Dutch squad – shared in the festivity. The former was good for a goal and an assist, while Frimpong was also the principal once. Due to the defeat, Union has to leave the lead permanently to Bayern Munich.
Bayern did good business on Saturday by winning 2-3 against Hertha BSC. As a result, of the Rekordmeister at 28 points, compared to Union’s 26. Die Eisern therefore had to win to maintain the lead. Union kept it closed for half, before Robert Andrich opened the scoring in the 46th minute. After that it went fast in the BayArena.
In minute 56 Moussa Diaby doubled the margin after a huge blunder by Lennart Grill, who is hired from Bayer Leverkusen. Frimpong was credited with the assist, as the fullback was the one who stole the ball from the Union goalie. Fellow the Dutch candidate Bakker appeared on the match report two minutes later. The left back / center gave the ball perfectly in the course of Diaby, who signed for his second of the afternoon with a placed slider.
Union – which started with Sheraldo Becker – was completely lost, and got two more hits. Adam Hlozek’s 4-0 was worth framing: the Czech promoted a hard cross from Nadiem Amiri with the heel to goal. Hlozak stepped aside at Bakker’s final chord. In minute 75, the striker handed the ball on a silver platter to the run-in Dutchman, who remained cool-blooded face to face with Grill. Leverkusen’s first win since October, for example, turned out to be a very nice one. Timothy Fosu-Mensah came in for Frimpong in the last fifteen minutes, while Daley Sinkgraven was missing from the selection.
