Eliaquim Mangala is currently clubless. Manchester City paid 45 million euros for the Frenchman in 2014, but he did not make an impression in Manchester. A career that has been highlighted by his transfer to the Premier League for the time being. At the age of 32, Mangala is on a free transfer and the current situation does not offer much hope.

An unpredictable scenario for a footballer who was bought by City in 2014, after his time at FC Porto, for an amount of 45 million euros. Mangala signed a lucrative six-year contract in Manchester with the belief that he would become a starter and with the Citizens conquered the Champions League. Very good intentions that, however, did not bear fruit in reality. His adventure in England, where he played 64 games, ended after only two seasons. Then he was loaned to Valencia.

In the 2016/17 season, Mangala made 33 appearances for loose Che, in which he received thirteen yellow cards. The 2017/18 season was a disaster for the eight-time international. He suffered a serious knee injury, which kept him out of action for eight months. In the winter, Mangala was loaned out to Everton, where he only played two games due to his injury. In 2019, City said goodbye to the mandekker and returned to Valencia. This time on a permanent basis, but between 2019 and 2021 he only played 21 games.

In 2021, Mangala’s contract was not renewed and he had to look for another club. That became Saint-Étienne, which signed him on January 22, 2022. There were no signs of recovery, as after just six months and fifteen official appearances, the defender was back at square one. 32 years old and waiting for a new chance.
