Arne Slot looks back with satisfaction at the Europa League match with Sturm Graz. At the press conference after Feyenoord’s 6-0 victory, the trainer explains what the key to success was, while Oussama Idrissi also reflects on the successful European evening.

“I think we played very good football”, Slot opens. “Apart from the fact that we were good on the ball, the players also showed a lot of discipline and concentration in defense. Despite the fact that I thought that they (Sturm Graz, ed.) really took part in the game in the first twenty minutes, I think we hardly gave up any chance. I think that’s the best combination: scoring a lot of goals, playing good football and giving away little.”

Next Sunday, Feyenoord will take on PSV in the Eredivisie, which – unlike Feyenoord – did not have to play in the Europa League this week. Still, Slot does not think that his team will suffer much more from fatigue. “People should not expect that we will be on the field with eight new players next Sunday. Especially when a match like today goes, you don’t build up a lot of fatigue during the match. So I think we’re in a very good position to play at full capacity on Sunday. I am convinced that we will also be able to physically go full.”

“It was a very special evening,” the attacker added to the words of his coach. “I think we as players have enjoyed the ambiance from the first second. We knew what was at stake. It was an important pot for us after the defeat in the first group match against Lazio (4-2, ed.), so we had to take revenge. We did that well. From second one we played a good pot and we enjoyed ourselves, but also the audience. That is certainly nice”, concludes Idrissi.
