Borussia Dortmund sees the overcrowded infirmary somewhat empty this week, according to an injury update from Sky Deutschland. Thirteen players are currently still working on their recovery from various injuries, of which BVB expect to be able to bet five in the home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 next Saturday. On Tuesday, Dortmund will visit Ajax in the Champions League.

The main absentee at Dortmund is Erling Braut Haaland. The club’s top scorer had to miss three matches for his club due to a muscle injury and, to his great regret, also missed the international match with Norway. In the meantime, Haaland is already partly training with the group, but his playing against Mainz remains uncertain. “A decision will be made about this in the short term,” he said sky.

Thomas Meunier, Mats Hummels, Emre Can, Giovanni Reyna and Gregor Kobel can in all probability play against Mainz and will therefore also be available against Ajax. The league match comes too early for Mahmoud Dahoud, Mateu Morey, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Soumaila Coulibaly, Raphaël Guerreiro and Youssoufa Moukoko. Morey and Moukoko are certainly not there against Ajax; behind the other names is a question mark for the game in Amsterdam. About Manuel Akanji, who got injured with the national team of Switzerland, has sky no information.

On the side of Ajax, André Onana (suspension), Maarten Stekelenburg and Sean Klaiber (both injured) are not among them anyway. Ajax and Dortmund are both in good shape in the group stage with six points from two matches. Due to a better goal difference (plus six to plus two), Erik ten Hag’s team takes the lead.
