SC Heerenveen has been able to take over Milan van Ewijk from ADO Den Haag for a reduced amount, it reports Football International Thursday. The 40,000 euro discount on the defender is related to the agreement that the Frisian club pays the full transfer amount in one go, within one day. Heerenveen is thus meeting the relegant who is in financial worries. The court in The Hague also ruled on Tuesday that the club from The Hague cannot go bankrupt until August 1.
The money from Heerenveen provides ADO some air, as the club from The Hague has a debt of 3.9 million euros to 150 trade creditors. In the coming months, ADO will have the time to resolve all overdue problems with these parties. The financial injection resulting from the transfer of Van Ewijk can be used by ADO to repay current obligations. If the club relegated from the Eredivisie does not succeed in canceling everything before 1 August, there is a possibility to extend that period, the court indicated.
Van Ewijk is the first purchase for the new season at Heerenveen. The Frisians reportedly pay ADO half a million euros. ADO, on the other hand, managed to negotiate a resale percentage in the contract negotiations, which means that the club can look forward to financial compensation in the event of a subsequent transfer. It is not known what percentage this is. The transfer of Van Ewijk gained momentum, partly due to the financial worries at ADO. Van Ewijk was brought to ADO in the summer of 2019 and moved to SC Cambuur on a rental basis six months later.
Meanwhile, the search for a new owner continues at ADO. Broadcaster West was able to report on Tuesday that Martin Jol is close to an agreement with United Vansen to take over ADO. According to the regional broadcaster, there is an outline agreement between both parties. Once the deal has been closed, only approval must be granted by the Dutch shareholders at ADO. In recent months, the club has been negotiating with the American World Soccer Holdings, but at the moment Jol seems to be the most important candidate.
