Cristiano Ronaldo has not forgotten a return to the Champions League despite his move to Saudi Arabia, reports Mark. The 37-year-old attacker signed with Al-Nassr on New Year’s Eve and reportedly had a special clause included in that contract that allows a return to the European billion dollar ball.

The provision in Ronaldo’s contract is linked to Newcastle United, the club that is not entirely by coincidence in Saudi Arabian hands. Should the Magpies Finishing in the top four spots in the Premier League and thus winning a Champions League ticket, Ronaldo has the option of enforcing a loan spell at Newcastle. The club is currently third and therefore has excellent papers.

Ronaldo left top European football on the last day of 2022 with a heavy heart. The Portuguese dreams of a sixth title in the Champions League and also has a prestigious record to defend: with 140 goals, he is the all-time top scorer at the billion dollar ball. His eternal rival Lionel Messi recently tied his future to Paris Saint-Germain until at least mid-2025 and is only eleven goals behind Ronaldo: a serious threat.

At his presentation at Al-Nassr, Ronaldo said he was looking forward to his new adventure. “The way Al Nassr is developing in men’s and women’s football is very inspiring. We have all seen Saudi Arabia play at the World Cup. This is a country with great potential and great ambitions. I am in a position to I’ve won everything there is to win in European football, so now is the right time to share my experience in Asia,” said Ronaldo.
