A summer departure of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich cannot be ruled out, writes BILD. The 33-year-old striker has at of the Rekordmeister on a contract until mid-2023, but both Lewandowski and the club are not keen on the attacker entering his last contract year next season. Should the contract talks with Bayern come to nothing, a farewell at the end of this season is seriously a possibility.

Bayern would like to extend with Lewandowski, but then the club’s top scorer has to settle for the same salary. Sports1 threw the entire Bayern Munich salary house on the street last week. With around 24 million euros per year, the attacker is said to be one of the highest paid players of the German club. If Lewandowski agrees to the same salary, he can sign for one season. If the Pole does not feel that way, it cannot be ruled out that he will close the door of the Allianz ArenA behind him next summer.

Given Lewandowski’s age, Bayern are not immediately eager to extend the contract by two years. The current Bundesliga frontrunner generally adheres to selection policies and is hesitant about signing players over the age of 30 for longer. Bayern is according to BILD willing to make an exception, but then the attacker has to settle for a lower salary.

Both parties want clarity about the future of Lewandowski before next summer. The Pool’s approach is still to sign a new contract. He made the move from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern in 2014 and extended his contract in 2019 until the summer of 2023. Earlier this week, the striker, who has already scored 34 goals in 27 games this season, won the title for the second year in a row. UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award.
