Pablo Rosario is exchanging PSV for OGC Nice, the French club announces through the official channels. The 24-year-old midfielder signed a four-year contract with the number nine of the previous Ligue 1 season, reported Nice-Matin earlier. Rosario was already on the training field at OGC Nice on Tuesday, where he will be the teammate of Calvin Stengs and Justin Kluivert.

Monday evening it was Eindhovens Dagblad already mentioned an agreement between OGC Nice and PSV. The first French offer of four million euros was referred to the trash can by technical manager John de Jong, because he bet on a ‘market-based amount’. That was ultimately successful, because both parties found an agreement on a transfer fee of six million euros. Rosario still had a contract with PSV until mid-2023.

Made last week Foot Mercato for the first time notification of the impending transfer. Initially, Dutch media disproved the reporting, despite Rosario having been spotted on a flight to Nice. The Telegraph claimed that the single the Dutch international had flown there not for a transfer, but for an interview with Mino Raiola in Monaco. OGC Nice had not yet made a concrete offer at that time, but that changed on Sunday.

Rosario therefore did not travel with PSV to Istanbul for the return of the second qualifying round of the Champions League against Galatasaray, but set course again for the south of France. There he successfully passed the medical examination and subsequently signed a four-year contract. OGC Nice strengthened itself earlier this summer with Stengs (acquired for fifteen million euros from AZ) and Kluivert (with option to buy leased from AS Roma).

Rosario was a regular base player at PSV last season, but had to do it on Wednesday in the second qualifying round of the Champions League against Galatasaray (5-1 win) with a substitute of a few minutes. Based on the preparation and the last game, the midfielder seems to have been surpassed in the pecking order by Ibrahim Sangaré, Marco van Ginkel and Davy Pröpper. Rosario was taken over by PSV from Almere City in 2016 and is on 138 official games for the club, in which he scored 5 times and provided 11 assists.

After Rosario’s departure, PSV will go according to The Telegraph into the transfer market to bring in a replacement. PSV want to keep the midfield just as strong as it is now. For the defensive positions in his midfield, trainer Roger Schmidt also has Érick Gutiérrez, Ryan Thomas, Marco van Ginkel, Davy Pröpper and Ibrahim Sangaré at his disposal. Gutiérrez is active with Mexico at the Gold Cup and seems to be allowed to leave just like Rosario.
