Bayern Munich did not make a mistake in the Bundesliga on Tuesday evening. At home, coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team won 6-1 against Werder Bremen. Serge Gnabry scored a hat trick for of the Rekordmeister, while Jamal Musiala, Leon Goretzka and Mathys Tel all scored one goal. Noussair Mazraoui was the principal at two Bayern goals. Anthony Jung was accurate on behalf of Werder. Bayern now has a four-point lead in the Bundesliga over number two SC Freiburg, which is still in action on Wednesday. Werder is currently seventh. A major blot on the victory for Bayern was the injury of Sadio Mané.

In the starting eleven of Bayern there was one change compared to the game with Hertha BSC (2-3 win) last weekend: Lucas Hernández started as left back, while Alphonso Davies was still there on Saturday. However, the Canadian was injured against Hertha and was therefore not in the selection against Werder. Noussair Mazraoui started again at right-back, with Ryan Gravenberch on the bench. Matthijs de Ligt was still not in the selection due to an injury. At Werder, three other players started compared to the match against Schalke 04 (2-1 win) last weekend. Mitchell Weiser and Marco Friedl, both with a past at Bayern, were in the base, among others.

The goals came in the first half like ripe apples: after Musiala gave the home team the lead in the sixth minute after a nice cut, it was again equal four minutes later. After a nice combination game by the visitors, the ball ended up with the freestanding Jung, who hit the long corner. In the 23rd minute, Gnabry gave Bayern the lead again with a nice curl, after which Goretzka (keeper passed around) and again Gnabry (for open goal on a pass from Sané) made it 4-1 at half time within a few minutes.

However, there were also two setbacks for Bayern in the first half. After more than fifteen minutes Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting saw his penalty, which was given after Amos Pieper’s foul on Gnabry, was stopped by goalkeeper Jirí Pavlenka. The biggest setback for the hosts, however, was Mané’s resignation a few minutes later. The attacker was hit hard on the knee by Pieper, which prevented the Senegalese from continuing the fight even after treatment on the field.

It took a while for the home side to continue scoring goals in the second half. Sané (shot on the post), Gnabry (Pavlenka rescue) and Coman (Pavlenka rescue again) failed to increase the margin even further. However, in the last ten minutes of the game, Bayern ran further: first Gnabry tapped the ball between Pavlenka’s legs (5-1), after which Tel shot the 6-1 final score on the board after a solo from his own half. . With both goals, the assist came in the name of Mazraoui.
