Only Barcelona can still prevent Memphis Depay from his transfer to Juventus, Italian transfer expert Matteo Moretto reported Friday evening. The 28-year-old is hoping to quickly sign a contract that will keep him in Turin for two seasons, but is dependent on Barca’s cooperation.
Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Memphis hopes that Barcelona will grant him a transfer-free switch to Juventus, but the Catalans are aiming for an amount of twenty million euros for the star player of the Dutch. In Turin, with an annual salary of seven million euros, Memphis could scale directly between the big earners. Memphis thinks Barca should add water to the wine, because last transfer summer he could have chosen clubs where he could earn more salary.
Friday brought The Guardian out that Memphis could also opt for a new chance in the English Premier League. West Ham United would see the striker as a good and multifunctional option for the attacking ranks. The Londoners saw Nikola Vlasic leave for Torino this week. However, Memphis indicated earlier this transfer window that he only wants to leave Barcelona for an absolute top club. Should Memphis still stay at Barcelona, he will play his matches with shirt number 14, as number 9 has been taken over by Robert Lewandowski.
Juve could become the fifth club Depay plays for. The flamboyant right leg made his debut for PSV in 2012, after which Manchester United took over from the Eindhoven team in July 2015 for 34 million euros. In England, the the Dutch international never really left his mark, after which he left for Olympique Lyon. After five good years in France, Depay was taken to Barcelona by Ronald Koeman last summer, where he has scored 13 goals and two assists in 36 official games so far.
