Match Summary
Despite registering a 76% possession rate, Chelsea succumbed to a 3-0 loss last time out, and five of their last six Premier League (PL) defeats have now come ‘to nil’. That loss also continued two notable trends – Chelsea’s last nine PL games have all featured over 2.5 goals, whilst the last four witnessed over 1.5 first-half goals.
However, the ‘Blues’ can take comfort from their four-game winning PL run at home. All four saw them lead at HT, and continued a trend of at least one match goal before HT in their last eight PL home fixtures.
Norwich City have also seen no goalless first half in their last four games, but travel here on a seven-game losing PL streak. Whilst four of those defeats saw just a slim one-goal margin, that run put the ‘Canaries’ into the history books by becoming the first-ever team to be relegated from the PL five times.
On a four-game losing PL run on the road, the division’s worst away side (W1, D3, L13) and worst away attack (0.41 goals scored per match on average) have been trailing at HT in ten of their 13 defeats, and only once on the road have they bettered their HT result at FT.
Players to watch: Tammy Abraham grabbed a brace (including the opener) in the reverse fixture – he’s netted the opener in three of Chelsea’s four PL home games in which he’s scored.
Todd Cantwell was Norwich’s first goalscorer in that same H2H, and has been their first goalscorer in four of the six PL games in which he’s netted this term.
Stat attack: There’s been at least one goal after the 70th minute in Chelsea’s last five PL games.
Norwich have conceded a league-high 17 goals from set-piece situations this season (penalties excluded).
Three of the last five PL H2Hs saw the opener scored by the fifth minute.
