It remains unprecedentedly exciting in the top of the Ligue 1 after Wednesday evening. A few hours after the victory of Olympique Lyon at Stade Rennes (1-0), Paris Saint-Germain was 0-1 too strong for Girondins Bordeaux, while Lille OSC struck late. against Olympique Marseille: 2-0. Lille continues to lead the dance in the French competition with 62 points; PSG and Lyon follow with 60 and 59 points respectively. The big loser of the evening was AS Monaco, which is stuck at 55 points after the 1-0 defeat at RC Strasbourg.

Girondins Bordeaux 0-1 Paris Saint-Germain
The number of big chances in the first half could be counted on one hand. At PSG, Pablo Sarabia was the most dangerous. A shot from the Spaniard was well stopped after sixteen minutes by Benoit Costil, but a few minutes it was still hit. Sarabia got rid of Laurent Koscielny with his first touch on the ball and then shot the ball low into the corner: 0-1. The home team’s only shot on goal came towards the end of the first half: Keylor Navas made a skilful save on a volley by Yacine Adli. Also in the second half there were no big chances, although PSG escaped an equalizer in the extra time. Navas was alert to a header from substitute Jimmy Briand at the far post.

Lille OSC – Olympique Marseille 2-0
Lille, which had a slight field advantage throughout the game, seemed to be heading for a goalless draw against Marseille for a long time. Renato Sanches was closest to the opening goal in the first half, when the forward sent a rebound towards the right corner, but was unhappy in the completion. Lille, with Sven Botman in the starting line-up, kept faith in a good end result until late in the game and was rewarded with a three-pointer, when Jonathan David was most attentive at the end of regular time when Steve Mandanda took a seemingly simple shot from Jonathan Ikoné had to let go at the first post: 1-0. The same David decided the game two minutes later, when he initially bumped into goalkeeper Mandanda, but was still accurate in the rebound: 2-0.

RC Strasbourg – AS Monaco 1-0
Both teams failed to present a beautiful spectacle in the first act: great opportunities were not created. That changed after the break, when Strasbourg in particular tightened the thumbscrews sharply. First it was Adrien Thomasson who saw a shot nip in the bud; after an hour of play, Alexander Djiku also had no luck on his side, as goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte had a great save in the house. Strasbourg’s eagerness to attack was eventually rewarded, although it took until injury time before the deadlock was broken. Frédéric Guilbert made room for the shot outside the box, after which he gave his team the victory with a nice swipe: 1-0.
