Southampton, this transfer window was the most concrete for Ibrahim Sangaré, Kiki Musampa revealed on Sunday morning during Good morning Eredivisie. The midfielder has now extended his contract until mid-2027 and only seems to leave at an astronomical amount. Musampa’s brother, Jean Musampa, represents Sangaré’s interests, so that the former professional footballer was already aware of the new contract early.

“Southampton wanted him, but he didn’t think it was the right club,” Musampa told the football talk show. “Everton was also interested. But he also has his doubts about that. Those are clubs that are not sure in the Premier League and the risk of relegation is great. I have to say: it was a good offer from PSV. He is now the highest paid player at PSV.” Sangaré was also able to go to Southampton two years ago, before he made the switch to PSV. At the time, the people of Eindhoven were more determined.

This summer, the English have again reported to the management of the Ivorian midfielder. In addition to Southampton, Everton and Liverpool were also in the stands, but it never became very concrete. The new contract means that PSV can in principle ask what it wants. Musampa does not want to reveal whether the €37.5 million surrender clause will remain in the contract. “I don’t know if the club wants to bring that out. I want to watch Monaco on Tuesday, I won’t come in later.”

Marciano Vink, who also joined Good morning Eredivisie, is pleased with the contract extension. “I am very happy for PSV that Sangaré will stay,” said the analyst. “We saw last Tuesday (against AS Monaco, ed.) what happens to PSV if he drops out. I also understand that they want to receive a much higher amount in a few years. They pay more now, but of course that includes a higher transfer value.” It is not known exactly how much Sangaré will earn with his new contract.
