Ki-Jana Hoever became the victim of a burglary during the top match between PSV and Feyenoord (4-3 win) on Sunday afternoon, it knows Eindhovens Dagblad. While the right back, who is rented by PSV from Wolverhampton Wanderers, watched from the couch, criminals gave themselves access to his apartment, located in the center of Eindhoven. There is currently no trace of the perpetrators.

Police were notified of the break-in around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Agents came to Hoever’s apartment in bulletproof vests. That had nothing to do with the possible presence of the burglars, because they had long left by then. The bulletproof vests turned out to be precautions, because it was suspected that the burglary had been committed by an acquaintance of the police. That turned out to be a misunderstanding.

In any case, jewelry has been taken from Hoever’s apartment, but the police are not making any further statements about the exact loot. In recent years, football players have been regularly targeted by criminals. That can be explained, according to security expert Glenn Zeilemaker of Dutch Crowd. “You can see football players on live TV that they are not at home,” says Zeilemaker. “Anyone can figure out their agenda of when they play matches or go abroad. Football players are often on TV or are on social media. So criminals know exactly what car those types of men drive or what watch they wear.”

Dusan Tadic and Eran Zahavic
In the recent past, Ajax captain and former PSV player Eran Zahavi also fell victim. Tadic was met at home by criminals on the night of July 27 to 28 of this year. After a short struggle, the Ajax attacker managed to run away. A year earlier, Zahavi’s wife and children, then living in Amsterdam, were attacked at home by two robbers, who took a Rolex with them. Zahavi himself was on his way to an away match against Willem II with PSV at that time.
