Rick Karsdorp will not play for AS Roma for the time being. The Roman club reports that the defender has undergone keyhole surgery on his knee in Switzerland. It turned out that he had torn part of his meniscus. The defender then successfully operated on his injury. Karsdorp will most likely have to miss the double confrontation with his ex-club Feyenoord.

Karsdorp fell on Thursday during the game with Real Sociedad (0-0) with a broken nose. For that reason he missed the Roman derby last weekend, but it now appears that Karsdorp also suffered a knee injury. The right wing defender was operated on at the Klinik Gut in St. Moritz by the regular surgeon of the Romans, doctor Georg Ahlbäumer. Karsdorp will stay in the Swiss clinic for a few days and then start his rehabilitation.

It is not the first time that Karsdorp is struggling with a knee injury. In 2017, shortly after his transfer from Feyenoord to Roma, he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. At the beginning of this season, Karsdorp again underwent knee surgery due to a meniscus injury. This time it is also a meniscus injury. As a result, Karsdorp will most likely have to miss the double confrontation with Feyenoord in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.

The right leg played no less than 123 matches for Feyenoord and was good for three hits and 24 assists. Karsdorp came to eighteen games for Roma this season. There were no goals or assists yet.
