Jesper Karlsson is most likely in his last months as an AZ player. Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reports on Twitter on Tuesday morning that the 24-year-old Swede is on the radar of Premier League and Serie A clubs. Karlsson, who, according to Transfer market worth sixteen million euros, is still fixed in Alkmaar until mid-2026. As a result, the Alkmaarders seem to be able to aim for an outgoing record transfer.

Currently, the outgoing record is still in the name of Vincent Janssen, who left for Tottenham Hotspur in July 2016 for no less than 22 million euros. When Karlsson was mentioned at PSV wrote The Telegraph that the Alkmaarders demanded no less than twenty million euros this winter. Given Karlsson’s good performance in 2023, that amount will not have decreased. The right leg was important with two assists during the handsome victory over Lazio (1-2) last week.

Romano does not say which Serie A and Premier League clubs are interested in Karlsson. Last summer, the left winger hoped for a transfer to the Spanish Celta de Vigo, but an agreement with the club from LaLiga was not reached. Karlsson then stayed in the AFAS Stadium, where he suffered a muscle injury during the first half of the season. As a result, he missed sixteen official matches. In 25 official games for AZ, Karlsson scored eight goals and the same number of assists this season.

The eight-time international of Sweden has been playing for AZ since September 2020, which took him over from Elfsborg for 2.6 million euros. In 115 appearances for the Alkmaarders, Karlsson scored 41 goals and 33 assists. Last summer, AZ already prepared for the departure of the star player by signing compatriot Mayckel Lahdo. With Myron van Brederode, the club also has an alternative from its own youth.
