Juventus did good business in the Serie A on Sunday. In-house, Massimiliano Allegri’s team had no trouble at all with closing down Salernitana, who was sidelined 2-0. The win is a welcome boost for Juventus after the painful 0-3 defeat against Villarreal in the Champions League, forcing the Italians to leave the billion-dollar ball. Despite the frequent criticism of last week, Matthijs de Ligt started ‘just’ in the base at Juventus and played the entire game.

After the Champions League debacle, Juve had an excellent start to the game. Dusan Vlahovic was able to play in the penalty area after five minutes without any problems, and the Serb prepared for Paulo Dybala. The attacker cut his left leg and fired resolutely behind goalkeeper Luigi Sepe: 1-0. Salernitana was unable to force anything and was lucky that Dybala didn’t shoot his second against the ropes moments later. With half an hour on the clock, Vlahovic still doubled the margin.

After the striker had already missed a dot of an opportunity on Sepe, he headed a high cross from Mattia De Sciglio behind the goalkeeper this time. 2-0. Juve took the rest of the first half back on the gas, where it continued quietly after the interruption. De Ligt was the first to create significant danger for Salernitana in the second company, but the stopper saw Sepe once again keep his team going.

The home team seemed to be heading for victory without any problems, until Simone Verdi Wojciech Szczesny suddenly put Szczesny to the test. The chance seemed to give the low-flyer hope. Salernitana increased the pressure, but came no closer to a goal than a volley from Milan Duric, which Szczesny again managed to turn. Juventus is approaching number three Internazionale by one point with the victory; League-leader AC Milan is seven points away.
