Juventus painfully lost in Serie A on Monday evening. A visit to Empoli went la Vecchia Signora down 4-1. Prior to the game, Juve was already told that ten points will be deducted definitively, as a result of which the team of coach Massimiliano Allegri makes a free fall to seventh position in the ranking. The gap to number four AC Milan is five points with two rounds to go; Atalanta (61 points) and AS Roma (60) are just below that.

Allegri changed his team in several places compared to the lost Europa League match with Sevilla. At the left center of the five-man defence, Danilo was replaced by Alex Sandro, while Tommaso Barieri (right) and Filip Kostic (left) replaced Juan Cuadrado and Samuel Iling Junior on the wings respectively. Fabio Miretti replaced Nicolo Fagioli in midfield and the two-man vanguard this time consisted of Arkadiusz Milik and Dusan Vlahovic.

Things went wrong for Juventus in the eighteenth minute of play. After a foul in the box by Milik on Nicolo Cambiaghi, Empoli was awarded a penalty by referee Giovanni Ayroldi. Francesco Caputo made no mistake from eleven meters: 1-0. Less than three minutes later, Empoli struck again. After a carom in front of the enemy goal, the ball landed in the five-meter area in front of Sebastiano Luperto, who hit hard: 2-0.

In the second company, Empoli scored twice more. Three minutes after the break, Caputo scored his second of the evening on a pass from Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro, while Juventus was unable to force a breakthrough for a long time. In the 85th minute, substitute Federico Chieso made it 3-1, although Empoli also scored again. In injury time, Roberto Piccoli put the 4-1 final score on the scoreboard after a corner from Nicolas Haas.
