Mohamed Salah considers himself the best right striker in the world. The 29-year-old Egyptian, who is in the race with Liverpool for no fewer than four main prizes, has no problem expressing that after winning the election for the FWA Footballer of the Year. “If you compare me to the rest, you will see that I am the best,” Salah told beIN Sports

Both with Liverpool and individually, Salah is having an unparalleled year, with his club not being knocked out early in any tournament and thus playing every possible game this season. “If you compare me to all the players in my position, not just in my team but around the world, you will see that I am the best,” Salah believes.

Salah himself has played 48 official matches so far this season, in which he accounted for no fewer than 30 goals and 16 assists. “I always focus on my job, doing my best and my grades are the best proof of my words. I like always creating a new challenge for myself, improving myself by trying something different. Making a difference is my duty.”

Salah’s advance in international football started relatively late. The Egyptian star failed at Chelsea and moved to AS Roma in 2015. With two great seasons in Italy, he deserved a top transfer to Liverpool, where he was the absolute star from minute one. “Before 2018, some said I can’t do it after I left Chelsea. But I stayed positive, kept going and then performed great.”

At the end of May, Salah will be with Liverpool again in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. It is a replay of the final battle in 2018, when the Madrilenians won 3-1 after a blunder from Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius. Salah had to be replaced in the first half due to an injury. “I remember the last final against Real Madrid like it was yesterday,” said the wing striker. “We are well prepared and hopefully we can take revenge now.”
