Heracles Almelo did excellent business in the Kitchen Champion Division on Friday evening. The Almeloërs won 1-2 against Willem II in Tilburg and therefore remain the leader in the Kitchen Champion Division. The home team took the lead shortly after the break via Jizz Hornkamp, but goals from Lucas Schoofs and Thomas Bruns were enough for the three points for Heracles.
Willem II was close to the opening goal twice after just over six minutes. Nick Doodeman was sent deep, but then ran into Heracles goalkeeper Michael Brouwer. The latter was relieved to see Daniel Crowley’s shot hit the outside of the post less than ten seconds later. Heracles was therefore immediately warned by the Tilburgers. The away team gained control as the first half progressed.
Bruns, for example, just missed the ball after a nice pass from Marko Vejinovic and Emil Hansson saw his long shot fly over. Kostas Lamprou had to come into action at the end of the first half after a shot by Nikolai Laursen. After the break, Hornkamp, who was replaced last Monday against Jong Ajax (1-2 win) after half an hour of play, gave Willem II the lead. Lucas Woudenberg lashed out on the edge of the sixteen-meter area, but Brouwer was able to save that bet. Willem II then took the corner very quickly, which Heracles did not seem to count on.

Doodeman saw Hornkamp’s run towards the first post, after which the striker was able to shoot hard: 1-0. Heracles insisted more and more in the first fifteen minutes after the break and perhaps got the greatest chance through Samuel Armenteros. However, the Swede hit the bar, which meant that Willem II got away well. A few minutes later it was hit for the away team. Schoofs only had to put his head against the ball – after a fine cross from Ruben Roosken – to level his team: 1-1.
Fifteen minutes before the end, Jeremy Bokila had a great opportunity to give Willem II the lead, but the striker missed Thibaut Lesquoy’s cross. Matthias Verreth hit the crossbar in the final phase after a great free kick, but it was Heracles who scored the winner in extra time via Bruns. The midfielder shot in a cross from Schoofs, where Lamprou was not completely clear: 1-2.
