Daley Blind regrets moving to Bayern Munich. Mike Verweij reports this in the football podcast Kick off by The Telegraph. According to the journalist, the left back annex center defender has said this to a number of confidants. Among other things, the arrival of João Cancelo on the final day of the winter transfer market contributes to Blind’s feeling that he should not have made the switch.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann will probably be fired on Friday as a trainer the record master. “That has everything to do with the position in the Bundesliga”, says Verweij. “I do think it is very annoying for Blind, who very quickly regretted his move to Bayern. If he had waited a little longer, Alfred Schreuder would have just been gone.” Blind lost his starting place in the left back position under Schreuder and when the defender said goodbye to the Ajax selection, Schreuder refused to report to Blind. After the match against FC Volendam (1-1) on January 26, the coach got his congé. The left back position at Ajax is nowadays usually filled by Calvin Bassey or Owen Wijndal.

“He (Blind, ed.) Could have stayed with Ajax perfectly,” Verweij continues. Presenter Pim Sedee then raises the question of whether ‘Blind said he regretted his switch’. “I think he has said that to a number of confidants,” Verweij responds. “Also because Bayern immediately attracted a new left back before he was well and truly settled in Munich,” he refers to Cancelo, who was taken over from Manchester City on January 31 on loan. “I think it is very wise for Daley Blind to take the escape route to Marc Overmars and head for Antwerp,” concludes Verweij.

In January, Blind was already close to a transfer to Royal Antwerp, but after Bayern reported, the club of technical director Marc Overmars fished behind the net. Blind may still leave for Antwerp in the summer, as the left leg will run out of his contract in Bavaria after this season. Blind has made four appearances for Bayern to date, only one of which as a basic player. Ryan Gravenberch, like his teammate, is not often at the kick-off. The midfielder, who came over from Ajax last summer, just like Blind, last appeared at the kick-off in the 3-2 lost match against Borussia Mönchengladbach on February 18. Sports 1 announced on Friday that the club management is dissatisfied with the few playing minutes that Bayern talents, including Gravenberch, receive from Nagelsmann.
